I love Christmas music, but this is probably my favorite. I think the story behind it is almost as moving as the the song itself.  "Where Hate is strong, and mocks the song of Peace on Earth Goodwill to Men" does seem particularly appropriate this week.

I had a hard time with this one! I live in the Evergreen State, and on the green side of the mountains. And it is very green here as a general rule. However in December it's also cold and wet-- wandering around my neighborhood with my camera today pretty much just got me cold and soaked to the skin. I don't go through much wrapping paper these days; we are fond of gift bags at Casa Zanthine. They can be reused repeatedly, and so much faster than wrapping with paper that just gets thrown away. And as a lot of my gifts have to be shipped thousands of miles anyway I tend to do a lot of ordering online. Does it make me a bad person that I just ( Read more... )

I had kind of a hard time with this one. It's december in Seattle; we're not known for "bright". So I cheated and decided to use one from last december which happened to have a bright day! It's from the Space Needle (I know, I know, I had company from out of town!) looking out to Mt Rainier.
